EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
Harbor Freight has this two-pack of 9-LED flashlights on sale for $4.00! Batteries are included (3 AAA each). I'm surprised at the quality and brightness. The length is 3.5", the weight is only 2.1 ounces, and the tube diameter is one inch. A PERFECT tactical flashlight (with rear push button)... except for the colors of purple and red. I'm going to sand and paint mine. If you want to buy a black one you have to get a single on sale right now for $5.
I have a Leapers picatinny flashlight mount on order right now. I'll let you know how everything fits. Maybe even get a picture of it painted and assembled. I think the sale ends March 9. Enjoy! http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=97036 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/pho...7099/97036.gif |

Not to rain on anyone's parade but I've had a couple of those and they are complete junk. The lenses fall out, and the things just quit working long before the batteries or the bulbs die.
You may get lucky and get a decent one - but you're gambling either way. |

Re: EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
These lights are sold at the local flea markets.
Usually about $3. They are just cheap Chinese LED lights. |

I just bought 2 at a local hardware store and one of them has already stopped working (havent got a clue why) My foolish advice: Just pick one or two up at a local flea market and keep them for barter or charity. Have the Mag Lites for your preps |
Re: EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
These are pricey, but it'd be the last tactical type light you'd ever need...

Re: EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
If you have one of these (I have over a dozen throughout my home) and IF they stopped working, I USED MY HEAD.
DUH. It's the SPRINGS inside the light. CAREFULLY pull the springs out just a little. AND I MEAN CAREFULLY. AND I MEAN JUST A LITTLE. Now, if you are trying to say that these are not a Surfire Tactical light, you are correct. But I've been using these since at least last summer and they work great. The first thing you do is THROW OUT the AAA batteries that came with them. Replace them with Duracell Coppertops. These have replaced my Maglites as my flashlight of choice for when things DO go bump in the night. But hey, I've got dogs that will warn me of all but NINJAS. And probably even then I will get some kind of warning. These flashlights DO have a place in your kit. They work well IF you take care of them. For lenses falling out? Use a SMALL DROP of super glue and then carefully snap it back in place and that WILL solve this problem. As mentioned above, stretching the springs will resolve most of the other issues regarding contacts for the batteries. And as I said, do yourself a favor. Replace the batteries with Duracell Coppertop and you will have a flashlight you can depend on. I use mine a lot. When I take my dogs out after dark, which occurs four or five times every night, I use this flashlight. It can be for a minute or two OR for as long as five or ten minutes. And the batteries last for about two months with that amount of usage. If you just want something that you can pick up off of your bedstand to go to the bathroom or for some other reason, keep the batteries fresh and the interior parts in good shape and this flashlight will definitely serve you for a long time. Mine have. Especially for $2 - $3 each. Again, is it a Maglite or a Surefire? Of course not. But for what it is, IT IS A GOOD LITE. |

Was going to post almost exactly what Wallew said. You can make these work well with just a little tinkering.

Re: EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
They don't put their in-store sale prices online. It was advertised in their circular that was mailed to my house. I think the sale price is good until 3/9.
I sanded one down, primed it, and painted it flat black. Doesn't look so bad. I agree with Wallew that their batteries are junk (they will leak and destroy things). We'll see how it holds up to the recoil on my SKS. - Only $2 each - Only 3.5" long - Only 2.1 ounces w/batteries Good grief. I could buy a lot of these disposable flasghlights for the price of one Surefire. It won't be my "bump in the night light". I'm thinking about hunting nocturnals like racoon with this SKS. |
Re: EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
Bought 2 of those at a flea market for $3 /ea. The lens fell out of one and the led's stopped working. The other one held up ok. I think the chinese batteries brand was (no joke) panaphonics.

Re: EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
T-rev,
As I said, use super glue on the lens and lengthen the spring on both ends and your other light should start working again. OR send it to me. I'll gladly fix it and add it to my collection. |
Re: EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
very nice. thank you for all the info especially the wallew tips!

I gave the other one to my girlfriend, and as far as I know it still works. You are spot on about the batteries. I was kind of pissed, spending $3 on a flashlight then $4 on batteries. |

I picked up four more at HF today. I've spent $12 on 6 flashlights. So far they all work fine.

Re: EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
its a good deal. Now I remember what killed mine. I dropped it, and it fell about 9 feet to concrete. The outside aluminum tube is really thin, and had a pretty bad dent in it. Thats what caused the lens to pop out and the leds always flickered after that. I guess you can expect that with a $3 light, probably not with a surefire or maglight tho

Re: EXCELLENT DEAL! Tactical flashlights for $2
I got some very similar at Home Depot a few months ago, brand is Husky. It was a pack of 10 for $15 on sale. 1/2 in black, other 1/2 in silver. They have held up great so far, and are strong enough to see what I need inside in the dark. Light up a whole room, or a corner of the downstairs from the top step. Not bad for the price if anyone doesn't have Harbor Freight, or doesn't want to deal with shipping.
SLV, I'm interested in seeing what you get put together for a mount. |
